Having spent time learning an expense management tool and installing it on behalf of one of CBIZ’ customers, I found myself converted to Continia’s expense tool, and I’m working on persuading my manager to implement it in-house.
I don’t tend to have a lot of expense claims to make, and tend to save them up to process in three-month blocks, because I dreaded having to sit down and do it. However, I realised that avoiding the task wasn’t the answer, and what I needed was a simple way to record expenses on the go.
After travelling all day, I’m sure I’m like most people who have to submit claims – I don’t want to get back to my hotel room or house, turn my computer on and sort out paperwork.
I’m forever having to search for receipts from the previous three months, because despite my best attempts at being organised, one will always be missing. This is what I’m trying to avoid, because I don’t have the time for it.
The majority of business travellers will live on their phone, so the fact that Continia offer an app version of their expense management system will be good news. You can submit mileage, travel and meals while you’re out of the office, without needing to be at your desk.
For me, I liked the idea of stopping for a coffee and being able to record it on the app straight away. Simply enter the expense, take a photo of the receipt and send the whole thing off to NAV. It’s definitely a habit I can get used to, because it saves time and energy and makes total sense.
If, like me, you also approve expenses, you can view any mileage and expenses which are awaiting processing through the app. You can see the claim and proof and approve it with a click of a button, so no more multiple files to try to match receipts to claims forms or chasing people to do expenses in the first place.
For large companies there are lots of reasons to adopt the Continia system, including increasing efficiency. I’m a convert to it, because it fits in with how I want to work and I imagine anyone else who has to submit expense claims would agree.
